Lunch Time

At lunch time, I ate with the students as usual.
Today I ate with junior high 1st graders.
As we were eating, the home-room teacher passed a list of questions for the boy sitting next to me.
The list of questions was already written in katagana English.
Ex: ヂド ジュ エンジョイ ユア ベケション イン タイワン (Did you enjoy your vacation in Taiwan?)
But the boy was too shy, so he ran to his friends and asked his friend to ask me instead.

Boy 1: What do I do…?
Boy 2: Just read it.
Boy 1: I can’t. Why don’t you read it?
Boy 2: Hurry! Just do it!
(After struggling for couple minutes)
Boy 2: Let’s take turns and read a word each.
Boy 1: fine…
Boy 2: You go first.
Boy 1: Why don’t you go first, it’s your idea
(After struggling for a couple minutes)
Boy 2: ヂド (Did)
Boy 1: ……..
Boy 2: Just say it!!!!!!!
Boy 1: ジュ (you)
Boy 2: エンジョイ(enjoy)
Boy 1: ユア (your)
Boy 2: ベケション (vacation)
Boy 1: イン (in)
Boy 2: タイワン (Taiwan)

I couldn’t stop laughing.

1/6

Nagaoka is much colder after I came back from Taiwan.
When I went back home, the temperature in my apartment was only 5C.
However, there’s no central heater in Japan…
I really don’t know why they have no central heating system in an area that snows almost everyday, or the so called 雪国. Even Korea has central heating since the ancient time.

Since I came back, Nagaoka has been cold + dark + windy + wet…
It rained + hailed + snowed…
It was so cold and dark in the morning that it was very difficult for me to wake up early.
If I want to heat up my room, I would have to get out of my bed and crawl to the heater to turn it on >.< And then I would have leave the warm room and go to the washroom to brush my teeth and wash my face in the cold again.

As the school hasn’t started for us yet, the past 3 days has been boring office days for me.
Just sitting around and pretend to be busy is the most difficult thing to do, which makes my day very long.

Day trip to 台南

Ate a lot of local food and visited historical sites.

Visiting Jeff --- 北埔

Jeff’s doing his military service at Beipu, teaching English like I do at a junior high school.
After visiting him at his school, I realized that the English level of his students is probably the same as mine.
At lunch time, he kindly treated me and my parents to a Hakka restaurant.

After lunch, we walked around 北埔老街 and made our own 擂茶.

X'MAS Party

My cousin Jenny's X'mas party in Taichung!

Tokyo Disneyland!

The day before going back to Taiwan, Chris treated me to Disneyland.
Although I have been to Disney Sea, I have never been to Disneyland. I was very very excited about it.
It was the 2nd last day for the Disney X’mas Special Program so it was crowded, plus we got there around noon, so we only got to take 1 Fast Track Ticket.

We went on most of the popular rides, but didn’t have time to check out the shops :(
We also tried out at the shooting gallery. I only got 3 hits out of 10. But it only took Chris 2 tries to got 10/10 and won me a Goofy Badge.

At night, we had dinner at the Alice Wonderland themed restaurant.

X’MAS School Lunch Menu

Tomato sauce fried rice
Fried chicken
Broccoli salad
Soup
Milk
***X’Mas Special Dessert*** (it was a chocolate cake, but thought it might be a toy>.<)

Sota!!!!!

My parents gave me a free train pass before they left Japan.
So me and Chris decided to take the train to visit Sota :]
Unfortunately Sota had to go to a birthday party at night.
He showed us the present that he had prepared for his best friend.
He opened a big box…all you could see was newspapers. And then he remove all the newspapers, he pulled out a rolled up pillow case. At this point, I still had no idea what he’s present is… it could be his used pillow case…
Finally he unrolled his pillow case and pulled out a tiny plastic model.
Apparently he had hand-made and painted this model, so he was trying to be extra careful.
He said it took him like 70 hours or something to finish it, so this could be his first time and his last time making a plastic model LOL.
