We couldn't drive our car up to the mountain. We had to take special bus to go up there and then 15 walk from the bus stop to our hotel.
The hotels in this area are only open in the summer, but very popular choice among Japanese people.

8/21
Was craving for sushi, so Chris and I decided to go to a sushi restaurant for dinner.
Sitting at the counter we ordered:
4 uni
2 scallop
2 sweet shrimp
1 maguro
4 red sea shell
2 aji
The pieces were small, we were still hungry after the 15 pieces of sushi.
Since we only had 6000yen on us, we were both worried about the cost. The prices weren't listed on the menu.
As we were debating if we should order more, Chris decided to leave the restaurant.
At the chashier, the bill turned out to be 5998yen!!!
phew... good thing we didn't order more.
After the sushi restaurant we went to a soba restaurant.
Ended up having 2 dinners at 2 different restaurants

Summer trip with Tony & Tina - Nagaoka fireworks
Summer trip with Tony & Tina - Sado Island
We got on the ferry to go to Sado Island. Bought the cheapest ticket without seats.
We all looked like we are refugees.
Traditional boat ride
Sado Island is kind of creepy. We didn't really see any children on the streets. Most old people will hunched backs.
We stayed over night in an onsen hotel on the island. Tina seems to be facinated by the name board. I used my name to book the hotel, so my name was hung outside the hotel.
The next day we visited the mining museum before you left the island. As we walk through the tunnels, there were moving mannequins. Kind of freaky.
Sado produces lots persimmons. I ended up eating lots persimmon sorbet :] yum~
